During these difficult and uncertain times - some people are trying to spread a little cheer in their communities by showcasing the spirit of Christmas.

While families are encouraged to stay home and practice social distancing - they're  using the time to shine some light, literally, on what health officials say can incite stress.

The Griffins in Cumberland, Rhode Island are hunkering down at home but have a little magic just outside their front window.  

"The display is simple: it’s a few strings of colored lights aglow on the branches of a small tree outside their house," NBC News 10 reports.

With three sons, mom Holly  "described it as “a little beacon of light” during uncertain times, adding that the boys love to decorate their yard for the holidays."

According to a study, decorating early for Christmas can make you happier. 

Unilad and the Today show both confirmed with experts that putting up Christmas lights earlier means more happiness for you.   And everyone could use a little more happiness right now, right?

Psychologist Deborah Serani noted several factors of why this happens to the Today show.

Decorating early creates a "neurological shift" as well as spiking "dopamine, a feel-good hormone." Bright lights, colors and nostalgia also play a factor, Serni said.
