PASCO, Wash. — One freedom group is trying to send Governor Jay Inslee a big message, literally.
The billboard is one of a half a dozen billboards throughout Washington state.
It reads "End the monarchy! There is no pandemic exception to the constitution."
The group behind the billboard is Freedom Foundation, a non-profit that aims to "advance individual liberty free enterprise, and limited, accountable government."
Leaders with the group tell Action News the goal of the billboards is to bring attention to the governor's actions during this pandemic.
Outreach Director with Freedom Foundation, Matthew Hayward says his message it to let people know they're not alone.
"It can be difficult to recognize and understand how many people support you when the face of government is requiring people to comply with threats of fines or even potentially being arrested so compliance appears to show support but that doesn't mean that many people support what's going on a lot of people who are complying aren't happy and don't support what's happening," Hayward said.
Hayward says from 2013 to 2019 there were 77 proclamations called by Governor Inslee and during that time Inslee called a special session 10 times.
"This year as I mentioned we're up to 416 proclamations in a single year and not one call to a special legislative session so the overwhelming message is saying that one person should not be dictating the rules for over 6 million people," Hayward said.
The billboard can be found near the Lewis Street exit off of Highway 395 in Pasco.
