KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Port of Kennewick is updating the master plan for their historic waterfront and they want to know what you'd like to see.

COVID-19 pushed their open houses online, something Planning and Development director Larry Peterson says is proving even easier for folks to interact with.

He says he hopes folks will check out the survey, idea wall and interactive mapping tool to designate the changes you'd like to see.

Peterson says right now nothing is too funky to be considered.

"Some of those ideas that might be deemed a little out of bounds today. Keep those on the back burner and see if we can move them forward," he explains. "Because 15 years ago, some of the ideas we see implemented here today were just a concept. Behind us is a lighthouse. 15 years ago when the master plan was done it was [only] to be a lighthouse-themed plaza."

Peterson says these tools are available through Sunday, August 16, with a special run-through presentation by consultants happening next Tuesday.
