THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. -- A cat was found mutilated Wednesday near Lacey and is believed to be linked to nine other cats that have been found killed and mutilated in the area, according to the Thurston County's Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to investigate a mutilated cat that had been found Wednesday morning inside the Land Yacht Harbor Community in the 9100 block of Steilacoom Road Southeast. They were able to find and notify the cat owner.

Later in the day, another cat was also found mutilated in the 500 block of School Street Southeast, however investigators have not linked the killing to the other 10 incidents at this time.

"TCSO is extremely concerned that such a predator/s is lurking and committing such vile crimes within our community. TCSO will expend every available resource to solve these serial crimes and bring the perpetrator to justice," the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Investigators and neighbors are concerned this could escalate to other animals or humans.

Pasado's Safe Haven is now offering a $21,000 to help find the suspect.
