KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Police say the driver in a Honda Accord drove through a stop sign, jumped a curb and smashed into a home with six people inside, but luckily, all the family inside the home managed to get out safely.
The crash happened near the intersection of 7th and Olympia at around 5:15 Sunday morning.
Inside the home, a father, mother, their three children and a relative were sleeping.
The occupants told Action News that the car smashed into their children's bedroom.
Luckily, all the children were sleeping in the living room when the car crashed into the home.
The family told Action News it sounded like an explosion when the car crashed into the building, and their home filled with, what appeared to be, smoke.
Police say the passenger of the car needed to go to a hospital for treatment.
Police took the driver into custody but would not say if they were under arrest.
Officers on the scene say the crash is under investigation.
