Closed for good: Crews emptying Old Country Buffet on Columbia Center Blvd.

Multiple signs on the door of Columbia Center Boulevard's Old Country Buffet tell diners the restaurant is closed for good, but invites them to check out their other location just around the block.

Fans of the restaurant won't have to drive far, a second location under the same management is still operating at 6821 West Canal Drive in Kennewick.

Workers spent the morning loading a moving truck, preparing restaurant equipment for either an online auction or the dumpster.

Restaurant management didn't immediately respond to Action News but the mall's marketing director Meredith Reed released a statement on the vacancy:

"As the retail landscape changes we’re taking the opportunity to enhance the shopping center environment for our guests, seeking to bring in entertainment, dining and other non-traditional uses in addition to an attractive store lineup. Most recently we announced the addition of Dick's Sporting Goods to the shopping center. We’re well positioned moving forward and continuing to evolve in a way that excites our guests and tenants.”
