KENNEWICK, Wash. - After years of planning, the first phase of the Columbia Gardens Wine Village in Kennewick, is now complete.
A ribbon cutting will take place Friday, February 9 at 2:30 p.m. to celebrate.
The public is invited to celebrate the transformation of Kennewick's Historic Columbia Drive waterfront, along with its first winery tenants.
Winemakers will be present and tasting rooms will open following the festivities.
Kennewick city leaders, said the Colombia Garden Wine Village is envisioned as a place to explore and enjoy the waterfront.
Port's Deputy Chief Executive, Tana Bader Inglima said "This is part of Kennewick’s historic waterfront and reclaiming that waterfront for the community."
She said, "There's a higher and better use and opportunity to bring new jobs and new business and new vitality to downtown Kennewick.”
Later this year, the port and the city plan to start phase two, adding additional parking, artwork, food trucks and parcels for private sector investment.
The ribbon cutting will take place at 421 East Colombia Drive, Kennewick WA 99336.
