KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Community members gathered Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the completion of public improvements at the Port of Kennewick's Clover Island Boat Launch.

The Clover Island Boat Launch was closed for renovations since last July. Improvements include: a new restroom, a paved and landscaped parking lot, new scenic viewpoints, launch ramps, educational signage, and "Fair Game" a reclaimed-metal artwork featuring eagles fighting over a salmon.

"All of these improvements have been made for the public's benefit and it's wonderful to see this many people coming out to help us celebrate," said Port of Kennewick's Deputy CEO Tana Bader Inglima, adding "Our boating public has been wonderful. They have been so patient for the last 8 months while we made the improvements."

The Port of Kennewick says the major increase in the amount of pedestrians coming to enjoy the free view in the past ten years really prompted them to make improvements to the area.

The port partnered with the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office to construct many of the public amenities. RCO provided a grant to help make many of the improvements possible.
