KENNEWICK, Wash. — 44-year-old Christopher Calvert is now in jail for allegedly murdering 76-year-old Clayton Wick.
Court documents obtained by Action News reveal a gruesome crime scene inside Wick's home.
Police said they found bloodstains, blood smears and blood splatter throughout both levels of Wick's home. They said there also appeared to be a struggle in the living room.
There was a trail of blood leading to a landing by the kitchen down to the basement, according to court documents.
Police said they found blood smears going down the stairs and a large amount of blood at the bottom. They then found Wick's body under a blanket in the laundry room according to documents.
"We believe that Mr. Wick's death was caused by a violent assault and blunt force trauma, but an autopsy will further reveal in the future his actual cause of death. It was a violent scene and like I said before there was a substantial amount of evidence," said Lieutenant Jason Kiel with Kennewick P.D.
Police said they also found blood on several items throughout the home including a wrench, a fireplace poker and three knives that were found in a box by Wick's body.
According to court documents, one of Calvert's friends said Calvert admitted to killing Wick using a butter knife.
Calvert appeared in court on May 6th where he plead not guilty. His trial is set for June 27, 2022.
