The Clover Island Inn may get a new look this year.

A developer out of Portland, Fortify Holdings, is currently under contract to buy the hotel by March 31, 2022. However, they're wanting to take it a step further and buy the land the hotel is on as well.

Fortify Holdings is hoping to transform the hotel into micro apartments. Their plan would transform the hotel rooms into 180-200 micro apartments.

The current hotel rooms would be redone to include a small kitchen area, a living area, and an updated bathroom.

They have a mix-use property plan that includes shops, apartment homes and a restaurant. They also have a renovation plan that includes a new pool area, new landscaping, and a new restaurant and bar.

In their plan, Fortify Holdings say they plan to spend $17 million- $20 million.

The developers say bringing 200 permanent residents to the area would bring benefits like enhancing commercial activity, helping the businesses on the island and creating a safer neighborhood.
