Driver Dave Villwock went for a wild ride on Saturday during the 2022 HAPO Columbia Cup in the Tri-Cities.

During the first lap of Heat 2, the U-40 Miss Beacon Plumbing unlimited hydroplane, driven by Villwock, caught air, flipped and landed face-up in the water.

Water Follies organizers tell Action News Villwock immediately popped open the canopy and got out safely.

The races were paused and Villwock stood on the side of the boat until rescue crews arrived.

Officials said Villwock was evaluated by medics and cleared.

The boat is not raceable for rest of the weekend.
