Families ring in New Year at First Night Tri-Cities
KENNEWICK Wash.-- Many families got an early start to celebrating 2019 at First Night Tri-Cities.
It's a family-friendly way to ring in the new year at the Gesa Carousel of Dreams.
Fireworks lit up the skies immediately after the ball dropped.
The event gives families a way to celebrate and teach kids early what it means to enter another year.
David Hanson says, "He's been here before, he was here last year on it, for my wife and I we've lived here all our lives and this is our first time here, I think it's great for families, the kids need something to do to ring in the new year and understand what the new year is all about."
Before the fireworks show, many kids got to ride the antique horses on the Gesa Carousel of Dreams. There were also ice sculptures, face painting, and much more.
And a fun fact, just in 2018, over 142,000 people rode the carousel.
