RICHLAND, Wash. — Friends of the Richland family of six whose home was destroyed by fire last month plan to host a benefit dinner and raffle Sunday night, to help the family get back on their feet.
Organizer Rhonda Ryan says dozens of businesses donated items for the raffle, including gift cards, gift baskets and a small gas-powered motorcycle.
She says a ticket to the Fat Olives-donated spaghetti dinner will help the Lopez family pay for everyday necessities as they recover from the fire’s devastation.
Ryan says the community rallied behind the family and they’re counting their blessings, in spite of the circumstances.
"Overall, the family seems to be up-spirited, in good spirits, [considering] what could be. Obviously there are things they're really missing, but the biggest thing is that they've got their family together," she said.
