ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Hanford Falcons Varsity cheer team was just named the Super Large Varsity non-tumbling World Champions.
The Hanford squad competed against several cheer teams from the United States as well as Canada and Jamaica in Orlando on Sunday.
Hanford finished in second place in last year's National Championships.
That second place finish automatically qualified the team for Worlds this year.
But their work isn't done.
On Sunday night, The Hanford squad will compete for the 2018 National Title.
At the time of this publication, the team was in second place heading into the final round.
The team is just one point behind Exeter Township from Pennsylvania.
We will continue to update you on the squad's progress.
Hanford Coach, Kim Mayer, tells Action news that the Junior Varsity team is also celebrating a 9th place finish in JV non-tumbling.
Congratulations and good luck to the Hanford Falcons.
