I-90 could open soon after lengthy closure

CENTRAL WASHINGTON -- I-90 has been closed for several hours after heavy snowfall and strong winds lead to crashes and large snowdrifts, but officials hope to open it soon.

The large section of of the major interstate was shutdown in both directions from milepost 115, six miles east of Ellensburg to milepost 137 near Vantage, due to blowing and drifting snow causing poor visibility and impassible snow drifts on the highway in multiple locations.

The highway is estimated to open at 10 a.m.
