Motorcyclist identified in deadly crash
RICHLAND, Wash. -- The Benton County Coroner has identified the motorcyclist killed in Wednesday's tragic crash as 22 year-old Zade M. Hakki of Kennewick.
The coroner tells Action News that Hakki was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but died of blunt force trauma.
Authorities say he died shortly after a motorcycle he was riding collided with a large pickup truck at the intersection of Steptoe and Center Parkway in Richland.
Police say the driver of the truck is cooperating, but it is still too early in the investigation to determine which driver was at fault.
At this time, authorities say there is no indication that either driver was impaired at the time of the crash.
The coroner did take a toxicology sample and that has been sent off to a lab for analysis.
The crash happened Wednesday afternoon at about 5:30 pm.
Authorities blocked the intersection for several hours as they investigated. The roads are now back open.
Richland police are still investigating the incident and plan to interview eye witnesses. More information will likely be released next week.
