KENNEWICK, Wash. — A new urban town center, that's been years in the making, is set to open in Kennewick.
The Port of Kennewick, in partnership with the city and county, is inviting the community to a grand opening celebration for the Vista Field urban town center on June 16 at 2:30 p.m.
Attendees will help open the site and enjoy food trucks, a photo booth and music.
It's all part of a community-driven master plan to transform more than 100 acres into a regional town center.
Leaders with the Port of Kennewick said they've finished phase one with a streamside promenade, fountains, bridges, a commercial plaza and more landscaping.
Attendees can also drive across the new Crosswind Blvd for the first time.
"It's really exciting," Tana Bader Inglima with the Port of Kennewick said. "We started planning this with the community a number of years ago, so we are following a community-driven master plan. We listened to the public and asked what they wanted and we are creating an area that's going to become a regional town center."
Bader Inglima said their vision for Vista Field will blend mixed-use neighborhoods with urban lifestyle amenities.
The celebration will be at 6600 W Deschutes Ave in Kennewick.
Attendees are asked to RSVP to POK@portofkennewick.org.
The next part of the project will include construction for commercial and residential units.
