U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-Sunnyside) took an exclusive tour of Kennewick's up-and-coming wine village Wednesday afternoon.

Area leaders showed him around the Port of Kennewick's newest project while crews worked on Phase Two of Columbia Gardens Wine and Artisan village.

The congressman told Action News he was looking forward to coming back and enjoying everything the space has to offer.

He said he's also looking forward to seeing how the new trade agreement between Canada, Mexico and the United States might help Washington farmers.

"They're very important trading partners, so to have that breakthrough is really big news," he explained. "I'm just delighted the administration was able to pull this together. From what I understand it's going to be better, not just for the United States, but for Mexico and Canada, too."

Newhouse made sure to clarify he hasn't committed his full support to the measure, he's still reviewing the pros and cons before congress votes on whether or not to officially replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
