Nine more Hanford workers treated for vapor exposure Wednesday

More Hanford workers report smelling vapors
HANFORD, Wash. -- Authorities say five workers at Hanford needed medical evaluations and four others received precautionary treatment due to reported odors, or symptoms, outside the tank farms Wednesday.

To date, 42 workers have been evaluated as a precautionary measure due to reported odors or symptoms at the on-site medical facility since last Thursday.

All the workers impacted by the chemical vapors have been released to return to work.

Chemical vapors originated in the radioactive and chemical waste stored in underground tanks at Hanford.

Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Bob Ferguson, Washington Attorney General, will meet with Hanford workers and speak with members of the media on Thursday.
