Pasco Grand Old Fourth of July fireworks show postponed; celebrations to be modified
PASCO, Wash. -- The Pasco City Council voted 4-3 to postpone the city's Grand Ole 4th of July fireworks show for 2020 due to coronavirus restrictions.
The council discussed the matter for one hour and 13 minutes during the lengthy debate.
Many council members felt the city needed to celebrate the country's independence on the date it should be celebrated.
Ultimately, the majority of the council voted to postpone the fireworks show in fear of large crowds gathering.
A likely date to host the fireworks show would be Veteran's Day on Nov. 11.
The parade which draws thousands of people every year must be modified to meet Governor Jay Inslee's Stay Home order.
The council did not specify how the parade would be changed, or if it would even be held at all.
