Police are investigating a crash after a car hits a pedestrian on Columbia Park Trail

RICHLAND, Wash. - A man is in the hospital after being hit by a car on Columbia Park Trail in Richland last night.

According to the Benton County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle around 6:34 p.m. Sunday near Rockwood Drive.

A 2005 Dodge Ram Pickup was driving eastbound when the driver hit the man, 27-year-old Justin Deen Poteet, from behind just one minute after someone reported seeing a man walking in the middle of the road.

The driver stayed with Poteet as emergency responders arrived.

The injured man was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center where he is being treated for head trauma, according to BCSO.

We do not know severity of the injuries or the name of the pedestrian at this time.

BCSO is investigating this collision.
