KENNEWICK -- Police busted a man that they say was car prowling in the student parking lot while teenagers were inside Kamiakin High School.
The incident happened Monday morning.
The Kennewick Police School Resource Officer assigned to Kamiakin High School advised Patrol Officers over the radio he was watching a man on camera enter vehicles in the northeast parking lot. Patrol officers quickly converged on the area and located the suspect while in a vehicle. The vehicle was not his.
The suspect entered at least two unlocked vehicles which belong to students at KaHS. Stolen property was located and returned to the victims.
Police are using this moment to remind parents to have conversations with your students and remind them to lock their vehicle when they leave it. Do not leave valuable items in your vehicle. The suspect was looking for unlocked vehicles and bypassing locked vehicles; they are looking for an easy opportunity.
The suspect was arrested for two counts of vehicle prowl.
