Police chase ends with Rollover in busy Kennewick intersection
KENNEWICK, Wash. —
Saturday afternoon in Kennewick snarled up along Northbound 395 after a car flipped into the grass between the highway and a dentist’s office on Yelm.
Kennewick Police say the rollover happened after Pasco Police tried to stop a vehicle on the Pasco side of the Blue Bridge.
They told Action News the car attempted to get away from police, speeding over the bridge into Kennewick.
KPD says the driver was continued fleeing even after PPD terminated the pursuit.
Janie Snow and her son witnessed the chase from Columbia Park.
“We [saw] them on the bridge and we knew it was a chase because they were going really fast. Faster than all the cars on the bridge," she said. "We freaked out, we couldn't believe how fast the car was going.”
Officers say the car smashed into another car before rolling, eventually landing upside down.
Officials say Pasco Police are handling the criminal investigation while Washington State Patrol is dealing with the accident portion.
Kennewick Police were on the scene to assist with what officers called, “a complex situation”.
Police say the driver is in custody as felony charges are forthcoming on the driver who caused the accident.
First responders say an ambulance transported three people to the hospital with unknown injuries.
