Police arrest rape suspect following high-speed car chase
TRI-CITIES, Wash. - Police say a rape suspect is now in custody after he led police on a high-speed chase through the Tri-Cities that ended when the suspect crashed on the interstate.
Richard Vasquez, of Pasco, crashed late Wednesday afternoon on I-82 near Dallas Road. Police then arrested the 30-year-old, according to reports.
Officers said Vasquez led police on a high speed chase from Pasco, over the Blue Bridge, through Kennewick on 240 and eventually on I-82.
Officers used spike strips to stop the car with Vasquez inside.
Police say during the chase, the car carrying Vasquez struck cars on the road and at least one police car.
Kennewick police reports said Vasquez escaped community custody and failed to check in with authorities for unlawful imprisonment and first degree rape charges.
Vasquez is behind bars at Franklin County Jail on the warrants for rape, unlawful imprisonment and Department of Corrections violations.
