Officials looking for man in Benton City pharmacy armed robbery
BENTON CITY, Wash. — Deputies are searching for a man in an armed robbery at a Benton City pharmacy.
Police said the man entered Logar Pharmacy Tuesday morning, displayed a gun, and told everyone inside to get on the ground.
Pharmacy owner Heda Yatullah said the man pointed a gun at him and demanded Oxycodone and Promethazine, and when he wasn’t moving fast enough the gunman asked him if the pills were worth more than his life.
Yatullah told Action News it was scary and he’s shaken up, but now that his adrenaline’s worn off he just feels frustrated.
"The guy just pops out and holds a gun at you and says, 'Give it to me'," the pharmacist explains. "He threatens your life, and then walks out. Nobody can do anything, everybody's looking for him but it's very hard to find out. That's the most disappointing part of it."
Deputies with the Benton County Sheriff's Office responded and arrived at the pharmacy within minutes. The robber ran out of the pharmacy through the back door and into a silver-colored Toyota Camry with dark, tinted windows and a spoiler, according to reports. Photos of the suspect vehicle heading north on 8th Street from Dale Ave. are attached to this story.
The man is described as a black male, wearing a dark-colored ski type mask over his face, a dark hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants with a red stripe down the legs. Detectives said he was also carrying a brown bag with red lettering of “H&M”.
No one was injured in this robbery.
Schools in the Kiona-Benton School District were placed on a precautionary lock down due to police presence in the incident. The lock down has since been lifted and officials said all students are safe and an officer in on-site.
Officials tell Action News they are working to determine if this robbery is linked to other robberies in Richland and Kennewick.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at 509-628-0333, reference case #18-05869.
