Watch: Pasco teacher is surprised by her fourth graders

PASCO, Wash. -- Big smiles and an even bigger surprise awaited an elementary school teacher in Pasco today.

Fourth grade teacher Mechelle Vandervert was taken aback to walk into her classroom to applause, cheers, and the tooth fairy.

Delta Dental of Washington is traveling around the state for their Smile Power tour--recognizing people who make their communities a better place.

A parent of one of Vandervert's old students nominated her--saying she helped her son achieve in school.

"Everyone who's had a child in her class has told me about how she has changed their lives,” Jill Bleazard said. “How she's given them a zest for learning and helped them to feel like she really cared about them."

You can see the tooth fairy yourself tomorrow at Roasters Coffee in Richland. Delta Dental of Washington will be giving away free coffee from 8 to 9 in the morning.
