Weekend-long closure at I-182 ramp for roundabout construction
RICHLAND, Wash. - Richland commuters are being informed of a major road construction project that will limit access to I-182 over the weekend.
The Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will be removing the traffic signal located at the I-182 and Queensgate interchange in Richland for roundabout construction, according to a news release.
WSDOT leaders said crews plan to close the eastbound ramp from 10 p.m. Friday, May 18, until 4 a.m. Monday, May 21.
This project aims to relieve traffic at the I-182 ramp terminal.
A detour will be marked for travelers. Traffic will be detoured around the work, onto Columbia Park Trail to State Route 240, according to WSDOT. Traffic will also be flagged through the intersection of Queensgate and I-182.
Transportation officials are asking drivers to plan for added travel time due to delays this weekend.
Leaders say access to businesses along Queensgate from Keene to Columbia Park Trail will remain open during construction.
After the weekend closure in May, traffic will be detoured around the work zone 24 hours a day, seven days a week from May 21 to July 30. (See above)
The WSDOT is working on additional road improvement projects with the City of Richland through the summer, including the widening of Keene Road and building a roundabout at Columbia Park Trail.
